They again request an interview with the president of Castilla-La Mancha to talk about inclusion in the classroom

He does not give his arm to twist. Soledad Carcelén, president of the Families for Educational Inclusion association in Castilla-La Mancha, does not give up easily. She seems as if she has applied the saying “if you don't want broth, she has two cups”. And that is why she and the members of her group return to the charge with the campaign 'Emiliano, lend us your hand'.

At the beginning of October, Yaeron wrote an official map to the president of the region, Emiliano García-Page, to ask him for a meeting in order to talk personally about inclusion in the classrooms of educational centers: ensuring that all students can have the the same possibilities and opportunities, regardless of their characteristics, abilities, disability, culture or health care needs. "But we haven't had any response from him," Soledad told ABC.

Faced with this silence, the association launched the second part of the campaign on social networks on Friday, in which parents and teachers show four real cases, which will become known over the next few days. "And we will continue to publish more videos until we receive each other," warned Soledad, who has sent another letter to the regional president again.

Canteens, extracurricular activities and excursions

With the videos they want to get an interview with García-Page to explain the problems that many students face in "unfair and contrary to law" situations. Their complaints, says the association, have been formally registered with the Castilla-La Mancha Ministry of Education by the parents of the students or by their own teachers and professors "in recent years."

Pretending to show the lack of necessary adaptations for students with special educational needs (Acnea). In this group are students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), disability, depression, dyslexia or high capacity. They will also speak to García-Page, if he receives members of the association, about the "impossibility" of some students in need of support to stay in the center's dining room or in extracurricular activities; of children who are not allowed to go on excursions or of those who are kept “isolated or segregated from the rest of their peers”.

They want to tell you that there are "mothers and fathers" who must leave their jobs to go to the educational center to change the diapers of their children with incontinence. And the lack of personal attention to diversity or the absence of auxiliary substitutions, as well as teachers of PT (Therapeutic Pedagogy) or AL (Hearing and Language) will not be left unanswered, they explain.

school bullying

Soledad assures that there is an "expulsion from the educational system, and therefore from the labor system, of students with disabilities" and situations of "vulnerability" due to the lack of means or specific and adapted training itineraries in Vocational Training centers. As a result of the problems due to the lack of inclusion, Soledad also achieved the specific training of tutors who care for children with SEN (Special Educational Needs). And she says that she will also speak to the regional president about adopting measures that prevent bullying, that "disappear in case of disability or vulnerability."

From the association they assure that it is not a specific and individual problem, but that it has become a habitual way of the cross for many families. "This is a social and educational problem that must be solved with concrete solutions," he said from this group, claimed by an Observatory for Educational Inclusion.

"We believe that the decree of inclusion in the region is quite good, but it is not fulfilled," says Soledad, who spins with a plea: the student body and that is not fulfilled in many cases. "It is not a matter of centers, but of management teams that do not carry out the directives established by the regulations," she specifies.

With the publication of the first video last Friday, Soledad says that other political parties (PP, Ciudadanos and Podemos) have knocked on the door of the association to hold meetings shortly. They will ask for specific measures in their programs to achieve real inclusion in the education system. "If other formations have contacted us, we would like the regional president to attend to us," she wishes. “We want to be heard so that these cases are not a personal fight for each family,” Soledad asked.
