Do you want to host a Ukrainian child? This is the procedure in Castilla-La Mancha

As soon as the Russian invasion began, on February 24, 4.503.954 Ukrainians remained in the country, according to the daily count of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The situation is increasingly delicate, unstable and unpredictable. The images of Ukrainian families fleeing barbarism have become our daily lives. For this reason, there are many people who, aware of the seriousness of the war, want to lend a hand and contribute to the well-being of Ukrainian refugees.

The increase in foster care offers in Castilla-La Mancha has led the regional government to publish a series of exceptional measures that will come into force this Tuesday. This was pointed out in the resolution of the Ministry of Social Welfare that was published once in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha (DOCM) and received by Europa Press.

Provided that the measures regarding the relaxation of requirements for foster care are based on the fact that there is no discrimination based on nationality, that the request is specifically addressed to the foster care of children or adolescents from Ukraine.

It is also allowed to present requests for family recognition and the family recognition procedure simultaneously with the regional or international adoption procedures, as long as one year has elapsed after having received an exhibition in any of the programs, the provincial delegation assesses that it has occurred. the necessary adaptation of the boy or girl who has joined the family in foster care or adoption and their development is adequate, or when it is not expected to receive an exhibition in adoption in the year following the start of a foster care.

In which case, measures will be established to streamline the procedure, an abbreviated procedure for information, training and agile assessment of applicants.

These measures will be in force until September 30, 2022 and may be extended, before the end of their surveillance period, in accordance with the evolution of the humanitarian emergency situation caused by the war in Ukraine.

Against this resolution, which does not put an end to the administrative procedure, an appeal may be lodged with the Minister of Social Welfare, within a period of one month from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha. .
