Ximo Puig covers himself before a possible electoral advance and already orders changes in the envelopes

In politics, timing and strategy management is crucial. And in the Palau de la Generalitat Valenciana they know it. That is why, because they have decided, they plan to start up the electoral machinery, in case the horizon of the coming months does not resemble the one designed by the Presidency team.

An advance of the regional elections -scheduled for May 2023- is not within Ximo Puig's plans. It is he as president who has the power to convene them. In fact, he did it unilaterally in April 2019 -with the opposition of his Compromís partners- to make them coincide with the general ones.

The pull of Pedro Sánchez was viable then an operation of these characteristics that now the socialist baron has been in charge of blurring, also overcome the open crisis after the imputation and subsequent of Mónica Oltra as his number two.

The objective is to exhaust the legislature and make the regional ones coincide with the municipal ones to take advantage of the duality of vote -by the force of some mayors of the PSPV, especially in the province of Valencia- that can grant the majority that the left needs to continue governing in a scenario, according to the polls, of technical impatience between blocs.

But the option of bringing forward the appointment with the polls is still there if the tests begin to reveal that those accounts are swaying in favor of the right. In fact, the PP is already the leading political force.

In this context, the Official Gazette of the Generalitat has published this Wednesday the order that establishes what the envelopes and ballots will be like for these elections in the Valencian Community. A movement that takes place much earlier than in the two previous election days.

For those of May 2015, it was published in February. In the case of April 2019, the order was published in March, shortly after the advance was announced. Three months and one month before, respectively, the official announcement. Now, this modification of a decree of the Consell of 2010 that determined the conditions of the localities and the characteristics of the ballot boxes, papers, sober and other documentation to be used in the elections of Les Corts, comes eight months before the date initially planned. .

This document, signed on October 4 by the Minister of Justice, Gabriela Bravo, pointed out that "the management of electoral processes requires great agility in the response by the convening administration to possible changes that may occur. in electoral processes. material". Among others, it contains as novelties the use of ecological envelopes and inclusive language.

In addition, it is requested "to carry out a new codification that facilitates its identification and to introduce certain specific models of some forms, in coherence with the State Administration." Specifically and with regard to envelopes, the envelope for sending electoral documentation to vote by mail is introduced; the envelope addressed to the presidency of the polling station for sending the vote by mail; the envelope for sending copies of the appointments of intervening persons; as well as the envelope addressed to the Electoral Census Office of the application for registration in the aforementioned census.
