The construction project to start up new local police units in the Polígono de Toledo neighborhood "has been awarded and the work will begin soon," according to the mayor, Milagros Tolón, on Monday.
In statements to the media after the visit made to the adaptation works of the Alberto Sánchez promenade in the capital, Tolón recalled that it will be in the neighborhood's House of Culture where that pharmacy is planned to be located.
"It is important that in this neighborhood the Local Policy has a permanent building in the House of Culture", which is compatible with other uses that exist, such as Onda Polígono. During these months the work will be carried out, he has commented, which will allow a "fixed donation" from the Local Police, which will mean a greater number of agents in a neighborhood with 25.000 inhabitants.
“Little by little we are fulfilling the objectives”, he commented, adding to the previous one the conclusion of the first phase of adaptation of the Alberto Sánchez promenade, which has developed in 12.000 square meters and which has consisted of the replacement of the ground, the curbs, to garden area in the center and the change of all the lighting for led lights.
The investment cost approximately 700.000 euros and includes all the accesses, not only from Calle Alberche to Paseo de Alberto Sánchez, but also from Calle Boladiez to Paseo.
“The objective is to gradually clean up all the walks in the industrial estate neighborhood, which have been deteriorating for a long time,” he reported, recalling that this work – in which another garden area is missing that will be done “later” – is a commitment "not only with the neighbors but also with the Debate on the State of the City".
Tolón has underlined that this is an 'important' area, not only because it is between the two main arteries of the Polígono neighborhood but also because of its proximity to the 'Escultor Alberto Sánchez' school, where many children pass by every day, and has added that next year the second phase of Alberto Sánchez will be carried out, which will continue to the houses that are "about to be built" in that area.
At this point, there is food that in the neighborhood is also currently carrying out the repair of the library, the extension of the center for the elderly and the landscaping of Guadiana street and the three roundabouts that follow, in addition to the Calle Río Estenilla roundabout, which is also being done now.
