Final day of heart attack in the waters of the Arousa estuary. The third and last day of regattas for the 420 Spanish Cup, a test organized by the Royal Galician Sailing Federation, has been very tight. Against three leading crews separated by only two points, the last three disputes have been decisive for a victory that finally went to the hands of the Catalans Sebastian Riquelme and Miquel Pérez, from Club Nàutic el Balís.

The parties were not wrong. The third day of competition received the 60 participating crews with strong northeast winds, reaching close to 20 knots of intensity at certain times of the morning. With these conditions and everything to be decided, the fleet went out into the water ready to give its hundred percent in this last assault on the race course.

Three fourth places were enough for the Catalan team made up of Sebastian Riquelme and Miquel Pérez, from Club Nàutic el Balís, to be able to maintain their lead until the final, thus becoming absolute winners of the Spanish Cup. They also did so with a four-point advantage over the classified segments, which were finally the Canaries Jaime Ayarza and Mariano Hernández with two seventh and one third scored.

Behind the representatives of the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, the third place on the podium was occupied by Marc Mesquida and Ramón Jaume from the Balearic Islands, who sail under the banner of Club Nàutic S'Arenal. Mesquida and Jaume were the best of this last day, adding two partial victories and a third place.

In the women's classification, the title of winners corresponded to the hands of the sisters Paula and Isabel Laiseca from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, closely followed by the sailors from Club Nàutic S'Arenal María Perelló and Marta Cardona, who were second just two points from the canaries. The third position, for their part, was occupied by Nora García and Mariona Ventura from Club Nàutic el Masnou.

The 420 Spanish Cup also rewarded the seniors in the under-19 and under-17 categories in both the Male and Female divisions. In the sub-19, the winners were Jaime Ayarza and Mariano Hernández and the crew made up of María Perelló and Marta Cardona, while in the sub-17 the victory went to Miguel Padrón and Luis Mesa from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria and the Galicians Natalia Domínguez and Inés Ameneiro.

Domínguez and Ameneiro, the youngest sailors sailing under the banners of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo and the Real Club Náutico de Vigo, achieved a brilliant victory in their category and were also eighth overall for women.

Also good performance, among the Galician representatives, by Pablo Rodríguez and Pablo Llorens from the Reales Clubes Náuticos de Rodeira and A Coruña, who finished in fourteenth place after going from less to more from the first day of regatta.

After the competition, at 17:00 p.m. the awards ceremony took place at the facilities of the Centro Galego de Vela. Manuel Villaverde, president of the Royal Galician Sailing Federation; José Ramón Lete, General Secretary for Sport of the Xunta de Galicia; Argimiro Serén, Councilor for Sports in Vilagarcía de Arousa; Álvaro Carou, tourist consultant; and Juan Andrés Pérez, Maritime Captain of Vilagarcía were in charge of handing out the awards to the winners of the event.
