Pablo Iglesias says that Yolanda Díaz "exists" thanks to pressure from Podemos to enter the Government

Pablo Iglesias has presented this Tuesday in Madrid 'Truths to the face: memories of the wild years' (Navona, 2022) without being able to fulfill the title of the book. And it is that there is a person to whom, at least to his face, he has not been able to tell the 'truths' about him. The act, with a packed Matadero auditorium and with the United Podemos staff present, has been indirectly marked by the absence of Yolanda Díaz, Iglesias's successor in the Second Vice Presidency.

That yes, Iglesias has sent some message that has sounded like vindication and that he was going to direct Díaz, on a plane to Galicia to attend an event tomorrow, Wednesday, at the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The vice president "exists", he has affirmed, thanks to pressure from Podemos, from the "core" according to him mistreated by the media, for being part of the Government in the summer of 2019.

“If Yolanda Díaz has so much projection, it is because there was a nucleus, the most attacked, who at a certain moment, against the criteria of media progression, said to govern, govern and govern. As a result of that, Yolanda Díaz now exists ”, she stated, in the talk she had with the journalist Aitor Riveiro, editor of the book after interviewing Iglesias.

Precisely, in an interview on TVE after the publication of 'Verdades a la cara', he said that perhaps he made a mistake when he appointed Díaz as his successor by finger, without there being any primaries. This Tuesday, Pablo Echenique, asked about the support of President Pedro Sánchez, who admitted that they will have to govern with Díaz's space, has settled the controversy by affirming that this "space" is United We Can.

This morning, also on TVE, Díaz insisted that she is still "very excited" about this listening process that has been announced so many times and that it has not yet arrived, but that the vice president promised to start as soon as possible. Iglesias, who in the presentation of the book has recognized that Díaz can carry out his political space, to the left of the PSOE, "further" than he did, has also insisted that this "projection" would not have been possible without the most combative profiles of Podemos.

Praise to Ione Belarra

Without the militancy of Podemos, Iglesias asserted in the conclusion, it will be impossible for any project to come to fruition. Iglesias, who has been careful to repeatedly praise Ione Belarra as a "brave" general secretary in times, has said, where it is not well seen to be, he has repeatedly been careful with the press, whom he has accused of being part of a framework to end with Podemos. Especially the criticism has been with "media progress", to which he now attributes an attempt to divide Díaz and Podemos, being uncritical with the vice president while questioning each action of the party, always according to his account.

The auditorium enabled in the Matadero de Madrid has filled it, with the public standing up to receive it and attendees who have had to turn around when the capacity was reached. But the most faithful of Iglesias will have to settle for now with reading a book that he has not written, because the first leader of Podemos will not return to politics, not even in his "worst nightmare".
