Valladolid will host the 25st World Summit on Business Mediation on May 26 and 30. The international meeting, promoted by the Valladolid Chamber, the Spanish Mediation Center of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the European Group of Magistrates for Mediation and the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission, brings together experts from more than XNUMX countries to participate ideas and successful experiences on the generation of trust in the business field.

The First World Summit on Business Mediation thus responds to the relevance that collaborative conflict management has taken in recent years in any social sphere, but especially in business activity, in which the SDGs that mark the 2030 Agenda and the ASG criteria (Environmental, Social and Governance) urgently need to be incorporated into any business strategy. In this, the prevention of conflicts, education towards more collaborative environments and the generation of trustworthy business environments will be the main protagonists of this meeting.

During these days, the more than 700 attendees who hope to participate in this first edition of the Summit will discuss success stories in the search for solutions to different conflicts that arise in the course of said business activity as a result of relationships with agents and groups. of interest that are part of the ecosystem of organizations. To shed light on this topic, the program of presentations, workshops and round tables will address very large blocks: the crisis of trust and its regeneration in organizations and institutions; the MASC as instruments for the recovery of trust in labor, social and corporate relations and the process of dialogue but all of mediation in multiparty conflicts, with special relevance in the business field and in the field of sustainability.

Among the speakers confirmed to date, the first edition of the World Summit on Business Mediation will include the participation of Ana Prado, General Counsel of Mercedes Benz; Antonio Magraner, Vice President of the Spanish Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs (CEAJE); Belén Viloria, director of Brand Strategy and Communication of the Red Cross Spain; Colin Rule, CEO of ODR and creator of the online dispute resolution system on platforms such as Ebay and PayPal; Delcy Lagones, Chair of the Board of the Australian Center for Dispute Resolution; Diego Ponce, President of the Board of Directors of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Ecuadorian American Chamber of Commerce; Dinesh K. Patnaik, Ambassador of India in Spain; Guillermo R. Zepeda, general director of the Institute of Alternative Justice of Jalisco; Juan Pablo Schaeffer, former representative of Chile to the United Nations; Leticia García, president of the International University Conference for the Study of Mediation and Conflict; María Teresa Vial, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Santiago de Chile; Miriam González, former member of the Board of Directors of Acciona and UBS and founder of Inspiring Girls and Nicolás Uribe, president of the World Chambers Federation, among others.

With the main conclusions derived from the meeting, the organizers will draw up the Declaration of the I World Summit on Business Mediation, which is expected to be a reference to continue promoting collaborative conflict management at the international level.

Barakah Awards

Likewise, the Summit will host the celebration of the 3rd edition of the Barakah Awards, awarded by the Valladolid Chamber of Commerce in 2021 and whose objective is to recognize personalities or institutions that with their work and trajectory promote mediation from different environments. In this way, to the numbers of the winners in past editions, such as the case of the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles or the former Justice Minister, Juan Carlos Campo, this year the recognition will fall on chef José Andrés for his contribution to humanitarian, climate and community crises through World Central Kitchen.
