We tested the Realme GT Neo3, the first phone that can be charged in five minutes

Realme has just introduced the GT Neo3 and the GT Neo 3T, two new exponents of its GT family, or Gran Turismo, with a clear focus on power. Both will be on sale on June 15. The GT Neo3 has a particular feature, the 150W fast charge, which means that with just 5 minutes plugged in, the phone will recover 50% of the 4.500mAh battery, being the first on the market with this capacity.

At ABC we have tested it, and, indeed, the difference in charging with the rest of the terminals is abysmal, six times faster than, for example, that of the Samsung Galaxy S22, making it very likely that we can forget about running out of battery, or of leaving the terminal plugged in all night.

For fast charging to be safe, Realme has increased the size of the heat sink by 20% compared to the previous model, and even with the temperatures we are experiencing in Madrid these days, we have not observed it getting hotter than other phones. In any case, the GT Neo 3 always warns of the possibility of overheating.

The mayor's concern will be whether the 150W could reduce battery life for less than the usual 800 charge cycles, or two and a half years of use. To solve this, Realme has installed a security chip, which allows the GT Neo3 to reach 1.600 charge cycles, which means that it will maintain above 80% capacity for more than four years. Of course, the 150W charger is included in the box and has passed various safety tests from companies outside of Realme.

A competent processor

The GT Neo3 not only debuts the highest fast charge on the market, but also MediaTek's Dimensity 8100 SoC processor, which arrives for the first time in Europe with a discreet 20% increase in performance compared to the previous model.

The processor is capable of competing with Qualcomm's high-end Snapdragon 8 gen 1. This makes Realme's new mobile one of the most powerful phones on the market with the best features, without speed of any kind. In the multicore process in GeekBench, the results are around 4.000 points, for most phones that equip the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, such as the Oppo Find X5 Pro (3.300) or the Xiaomi 12 Pro (3.700).

The amount of memory depending on the model would be between 8 and 12 GB. The GT Neo 3T, the smallest handset of the terminal, has a Snapdragon 870 mode and 8 GB of RAM, a processor that we have already seen in other phones such as Xiaomi's Poco F3. It is a mid-range processor, which has worked perfectly in tests, and which handles the phone smoothly, but it is far from the Dimensity 8100.

the camera falters

As for the design, Realme has sought to differentiate itself. The casing simulates the bodywork of a racing car, which we liked. The 6,7-inch FullHD +, HDR10 + and 120hz refresh AMOLED screen is designed especially for gamers, so that their experience is as immersive as possible. To give it a snag, some brightness is badly lacking outdoors, and obviously there are plus panels on the market, but it is still a screen in its mid-range segment. The touch screen display is 1.000Hz, again, designed for video games, so the response is instant.

In any case, with the camera, that you see that you record that you do not see this phone, you have the idea for gamers, you do not have photography, you have a Sony IMX776 sensor that you see in other terminals, such as GT2 Pro, and very objective that there is a classic in Realme, a main 50 megapixel, a wide angle of 8 and a macro of 2. The set gives a good result but it did not improve anything that we had already seen if we talk about Realme.

The Sony sensor is going to have a good result, just as it did in the GT2 Pro, with image detail, and a night mode with a fairly high-quality result. At any ultra wide angle, images sound the same, with some edge distortion. The macro is only testimonial, an objective of little use, which is more of a filler than anything else.

also a tablet

The Realme Gt Neo3 is one of the most interesting mid-range phones, with great power and 150W charging, perfect for gamers. Realme has prepared special editions, Dragon Ball and Naruto, unfortunately only the first will arrive in Europe at some point. The price moves at 699,90 euros.

There is also a new tablet from Realme, the Pad Mini, with an 8,7-pound screen, Unisoc T616 processor, 4G capabilities, 32 and 64GB storage, but with MicroSD expansion that weighs just 373 grams. A tablet that has been one of the best sellers on Amazon thanks to its reduced price of 159 euros.

What we liked the most is its aluminum design, probably because our memory has a large iPhone. Because it has known power, there is the LCD screen, the main purpose of this tablet is clearly the consumption of multimedia content, for Netflix or YouTube, thanks to the 4G connection, the 6.400 mAh battery, and the possibility of expanding this space. using memory cards. The cameras, front and rear, 5 and 8 megapixels respectively, are very fair to make a video call or take a photo. The Realme Pad Mini is perfect for watching our favorite series during those long summer trips.
