“Without light there is no bread”. Under this proclamation, the Confederation of Bakery, Pastry, Pastry and Related Products (CEOPAN) called a party between 12:00 and 12:15 in the negotiations of the sector to protest the increase in production costs derived from inflation.

The rise in the price of raw materials, and especially energy, is forcing the progressive closure of these businesses and causing small towns to run out of bread, CEOPAN points out.

“I am paying more than double for electricity, I have gone from paying an average of 3.000 euros to paying 6.200 euros, as well as for gas, which has risen 50%, now I pay 1.400 euros when before I used to pay about 500 euros,” said the manager of the Valencian bakery Horno de San Pablo in Europa Press.

With the blackout, the member buses can add value to the sector, which directly employs more than 190.000 workers in Spain, and achieve their inclusion in the list of energy-intensive sectors.

"We are not alone on this path, from our European Confederation of Bakers and Pastry Chefs (CEBP) we are also pressuring the Commission and Parliament so that our sector is included in all essentials for all purposes, including, especially, energy" CEOPAN stated.
