The football war reaches the First RFEF

This youth held in Las Rozas in a tense atmosphere, as defined by ABC one of the presidents present, the emergency meeting with the First RFEF clubs called by the Spanish Football Federation with three issues on the agenda: the rights of television, the federal aid policy and the birth of an association of clubs in the category -created behind the Federation's back in a breach of the commitments made last year by all the teams, according to the body chaired by Luis Rubiales-. An encounter in which the groups promoting this association (Dux Internacional de Madrid, UD San Sebastián de los Reyes, Rayo Majadahonda, Balompédica Linense and Linares Deportivo) did not find the support they expected from other teams in the bronze division and in which we receive an ultimatum.

If this association is not dissolved within 48 hours, the RFEF will apply the disciplinary regime and these teams could be out of the competition next season and will not receive the aid granted by the federative body.

In the reunion of these young people, who were not attended by Cornellà or Tudelano, in addition to Extremadura (expelled from the competition for two failures to appear), the RFEF was 'conciliatory' after the concern that arose in the category because the Luxembourgish platform Fuch Sports will announce this week the termination of its agreement with Footters, the Spanish OTT that retransmitted the Primera RFEF matches and to which it has cut the signal alleging alleged defaults. In this sense, the RFEF guaranteed the clubs the pages of television rights until the end of the season.

Where Rubiales showed inflexibility was in his rejection of the constitution, already made official in the BOE, of the Association of Soccer Clubs of the Third National Category, an initiative carried out by Dux Internacional de Madrid, UD San Sebastián de los Reyes , Rayo Majadahonda, Balompédica Linense and Linares Deportivo. Although the promoters hoped to add support at Thursday's meeting, several clubs with strength in the category raised their voices to openly distance themselves. Among these teams that showed this rejection, as confirmed to ABC by a president of the First RFEF, were Cultural Leonesa, Nástic, UD, Logroñés, Albacete, Barcelona and Alcoyano.

Although the right of association is guaranteed in the Constitution, the Federation referred to the statutes of UEFA and FIFA, in reference to the regulatory bases of national competitions, to warn of possible consequences if the promoting clubs do not dissolve the association in 48 hours. Although a vote was not taken at a meeting held in August 2021, all the teams in the category then withdrew "unanimously" from the constitution of a future association of clubs, a president who shows his discomfort with the five explains to this newspaper. 'wayward'. "The only thing we want is to divide, many of us have the intuition that LaLiga and Javier Tebas' son are behind this operation," said the manager. "During the meeting, the president of the International Doge of Madrid, the most belligerent, openly acknowledged that he has had business with Tebas," he adds.

Very attractive competition

Prelude to professional football, the First RFEF, which was launched this season, has become a very attractive sporting competition, although organizationally it still has a long way to go. The founding teams involved in the association of clubs in this category deny that they are going against the Federation with this initiative and assure that their only interest is to seek new sources of income. Not everyone shares this appreciation, as was shown in the meeting held in Las Rozas.

As of this Thursday, Dux Internacional de Madrid, UD San Sebastián de los Reyes, Rayo Majadahonda, Balompédica Linense and Linares Deportivo already know first-hand that the Federation will take action if they do not dissolve the association. "In the disciplinary code of the Federation there is no article that allows clubs to be relegated for associating with each other," they explain from one of the founding clubs. The RFEF, however, points to the FIFA and UEFA regulations as support for its possible sanctions.

A threat that has the promoting clubs of the new association in suspense. "We are weighing all the information received this Thursday and we value the position we take," they assure ABC from one of the clubs.
