2023 is set to be one of the biggest years in Nintendo Switch history. Nintendo's hybrid console, which will soon receive the highly anticipated 'The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom', has its catalog for the remastering of 'Metroid Prime'. Exploration and action title (with many shots) originally developed for the GameCube, one of those consoles that ended up being overwhelmed in sales at the beginning of the century by PlayStation 2.
As with its predecessor, the Nintendo 64, the Gamecube was not, by far, a platform widely exploited by external developers. Most of the great jewels in its catalogue, such as the 'Luigi's Mansion' primer, the 'Twilight Princess' zeldas and 'The Wind Waker' or 'Super Mario Sunshine', were developed by the Kyoto company itself. Exactly the same thing happened with this 'Metroid Prime', still considered, 20 years after its release, as one of the best video games in history. So, generally.
As fans of the saga and those who already gave the title a chance at the time will know, the action takes place on the desolate planet Tallon IV, full of nooks and crannies and secrets. A place to get lost and explore. The user controls Samus Aran, the main character of the saga, in this case in an adventure that takes place in the first person, unlike what happens in the still recent 'Metroid Dread'.
At the narrative level, the video game has more depth than meets the eye. Although, yes, do not expect that they give you everything done in the form of cinematics. Here you will have to analyze all the written information that you come across along the way. With everything, we make it clear that the Metroid saga has always shone more for the gameplay than for the story, which in this case seems secondary to us.
The graphics improve with respect to the original version, as expected, although there are also changes in the design of the proposal, in the lighting and in the control -there are up to four different types, to be chosen by the 'gamer'-. On a graphic level, the game enters through the eyes. Technically it is at the level of what is expected of Switch. And we say this for good. All in all, the work is recognizable and tremendously faithful to the original.
As with the rest of the titles in the franchise, Metroid Prime is by no means an affordable video game in terms of playability. You are not going to spend this shooting yourself without rhyme or reason. The proposal has tough bosses and puts you to the test from the first impasses. Besides, if you do with him, you better get serious about exploring. Every time you die, it appears at the last save station it saved to, so if you're not careful, you may lose significant progress.
That said, making it clear that the difficulty may make the proposal possibly not ideal for the newest, we consider it a good opportunity to (re)discover one of the most valued games in history. Nintendo Switch, created for more than 120 million users, is an ideal system for recreation.
