The forest fires of Vall d'Ebo and Bejís advance without control with kilometers of evicted people

The forest losses that plague the north and south of the Valencian Community, in Vall d'Ebo (Alicante) and Bejís (Castellón) continue to advance uncontrollably, with "a high activity", evacuated kilometers and an unfavorable forecast for the intensity of the eat

Up to seven roads in the Valencian Community will be cut off due to the fire. Ebo Valley

The fire declared on Saturday night in the Alicante municipality has already burned 11.105 hectares in three regions - Marina Alta, Safor and Comtat -, with a perimeter of 80 kilometers and has forced more than 1.500 people to leave their homes. of ounces nearby towns such as Tollos or Famorca. The last one, the town of Benimassot. Neighbors who have no alternative housing, around a centenary, have been transferred to Red Cross shelters in Pego and Muro de Alcoy. It is the worst fire in a decade in the Valencian Community.

Given the advance of the flames, which is believed to have caused a lightning strike, a total of 32 airborne means of different administrations are intervening in the extinction work, which is concentrated in four different points.

Some mayors in the interior of the province of Alicante (Fageca and Tollos, among others) affected by the fires, after the evacuations, have decided to monitor with the help of some neighbors for fear of looting by thieves who can take advantage of it to raid empty homes.

Bejís

At the same time, firefighters continue to work on the forest fire that was destroyed at noon on Monday in the Castellón municipality of Bejís, in an area with a very complicated and stranded orography, which presented a special difficulty for access by land resources.

The troops assure that the combination of these with the discharges of the twenty aerial means will be "essential" to control the fire that keeps the villages of Arteas de Abajo, Arteas de Arriba and Los Cloticos evicted, due to the proximity of the flames.

Likewise, the population of Bejís, Torás and Teresa have been evacuated as a precaution, since "there has been a change in the direction of the wind and the smoke is directed towards the population." For this reason, a point of attention has been set up for those affected in a Viver pavilion, with attention from the Red Cross for those staying. In this town, the confinement of the population and the eviction of the campsite have been decided. In total, more than a thousand people have been evicted and two firefighters have been injured during the extinction work.

Until noon this Tuesday they had burned 800 hectares and the fire extends over a perimeter of twenty kilometers. From the Advanced Command Post, the authorities direct an extinction device of 230 people including bombers from the Diputación de Castellón, the Generalitat and members of the Military Emergency Unit (UME).

"We cannot do anything else, the only thing is to try to concentrate on protecting people," President Ximo Puig told the media. The fire management team has decided to change its strategy in the face of the "extraordinary, complicated and very difficult" situation due to the wind, which has accelerated the speed of the fire. A new change in the situation scheduled for this Wednesday is awaited.

Puig has guaranteed that the municipalities affected by the fires will have regional aid to "recover and relaunch" the burned land. Similarly, the Minister of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, Gabriela Bravo, has asked to compare in the Valencian Courts on September 16 to report on the actions carried out.
