The directors of the public centers of Barcelona inform Cambray for 25%

The directors of the public centers of Barcelona have joined the demand for information requested from the director of the branch, Josep Gonzàlez-Cambray, by the directors of the Maresme (Barcelona) in relation to the application of the 25 percent of subjects in English and how it affects them. This has been made known to the counselor in an email and also to the families, pointing out his "concern" for the maintenance of the "linguistic model" based on compulsory immersion in Catalan.

In this way, the directors of Infant, Primary, Secondary and Special Education in Barcelona have joined in the demand, advanced by ABC this Friday, along with other petitions to justify the teachers' strike on March 15. The directors have accused Gonzàlez-Cambray of eliminating them from "decision-making that replaces the day-to-day" of the educational centers.

In the letter addressed to families, the directors have assured that they want "the needs of the centers to be heard in order to really build a quality inclusive public school", and have pointed out that education cannot be improvised. Among the motivations for the protest, in addition to the linguistic issue, there is also the use of the inclusive school decree, recovering and improving the templates prior to the cuts, giving stability to the templates and lack of planning in the Ministry.

Likewise, they have referred to the advancement of the school calendar, which "generates nerves due to what the planning and organization of the course entails", they have reproached that there was no consensus and they have regretted that the new curricula will send the worst moment of Covid management hanging of the school year.

In the other letter, addressed to the Minister of Education, the directors have indicated that they value the drive towards educational transformation, but have stressed that it must be accompanied by more human and financial resources. And, in this line, they have pointed out that it is necessary that between centers and department there is "communication and trust that is reflected at a social level, promoting an image of cohesion", for which they have requested a meeting to share these concerns and receive answers. .
