The start-up, for the next academic year, of the so-called 'Educational MIR' —a new comprehensive teacher training program— has led the Ministry of Education to set up the Madrid Higher Institute of Educational Innovation (ISMIE), whose entry into The operation will be formalized in the next few days.

In this institute there will also be an International Exchange Training Center, with the aim of promoting this type of meeting and that teachers from Madrid have the opportunity to learn about different educational systems in the world.

The ISMIE will also be in charge of carrying out the Comprehensive Teacher Training Program, which will start operating in September, as well as accrediting linguistic and digitization skills.

From the ISMIE it will help teachers to participate in future projects in Spain, and will facilitate support for students of other nationalities who plan projects with schools and institutes in Madrid.

Physically, the new institute will be located in the facilities of the current Las Acacias Regional Center for Innovation and Training, it will be specialized in carrying out the initial training of the teaching staff that will be incorporated first, after passing the oppositions, as well as that of the mentors who accompany them in their first year of internships. To do this, they will carry out activities that facilitate teaching between both so that they can share experiences and good practices.

The Territorial Innovation and Training Centers (CTIF), which now function and are located in each of the Territorial Areas (North, South, East, West and Madrid Capital), will be the ones that coordinate and manage all the training activities of the region, there is also a commitment to detect the pedagogical needs of their area. Added to these are the three Environmental Training Centers that carry out actions related to the environment and sustainability.

More internships and training

The new 'Educational MIR' extends from the current six months to a full course the duration of the internship period in a school for the new educators that they incorporate after winning their opposition. In addition, it will reinforce the training you receive, increasing the number of hours, from 25 now to 120 in the future.

It also opens the possibility of observing how others teach. This will be done rigorously, so that the workers have a demonstrated ability to fulfill their duties once they are incorporated into their new responsibilities. During all this time they will have a mentor who will advise them during the first year of work.
