Joan Mir works at Honda and will be Marc Márquez's partner

The Spanish rider Joan Mir will continue his adventure in MotoGP and will do so in the ranks of Repsol Honda, where he will ride for the next two seasons taking the place of Pol Espargaró and as Marc Márquez's partner in what will be a pair of world champions.

“Honda Racing Corporation is proud to announce the signing of Joan Mir. In addition to two world championships, the Spanish rider has won 12 grand prix victories and 33 podiums. For 24 years, the Honda RC213V will compete with the factory equipment with a delayed contract together with Marc Márquez”, explained the Japanese brand in a press release.

The pilot himself was very excited about his new stage. “I am very excited to be able to officially announce my incorporation to the Repsol Honda team starting next year. Thank HRC for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to defend these colors, full of history and world titles, "Mir himself commented through his social networks.

“We will take advantage of all the experience accumulated over the years in MotoGP with Suzuki to contribute the most to the project and fight together to become world champions again. Now it's time to continue focusing on my recovery to return to the circuits as soon as possible and finish a great season finale with my Suzuki Ecstar team“, said Joan Mir.

Mallorca has in its record with the titles of Moto3 and MotoGP. “The 2020 MotoGP world champion showed he had the level and talent to be champion in his first full season in Moto3 in 2016. In 2017 the '36' took the lightweight crown on a Honda before moving up to the intermediate category next year“said Honda.

Mir is currently immersed in his fourth season in the top category, all with Suzuki, the brand with which he won the World Championship in 2020 and finished third in 2021. In this course, the problems in his team, which leaves the competition at the end of the year, have caused their results to decline.
