The president of the Valencia College of Nursing participates in the III National Congress of Pediatric Nursing Associations

The president of the Official College of Nursing of Valencia (COENV), Laura Almudéver, has presented the first prizes to the "Clinical Case" and the "Oral Communication" during the course of the III National Congress of Pediatric Nursing Associations held during the First October weekend in Alboraia.

Almudéver, who has highlighted the excellence of the work, has awarded the "First Prize for the Clinical Case" award to Ángeles García Andrés for her study "Paliative Care in an Infant with Epidermolysis Bullosa" promoted by the College of Nursing of Valencia with a donation of 300 euros. Along with this distinction, the president of the COENV has awarded the prize sponsored, also with 300 euros, by the Nursing Council of the Valencian Community (CECOVA), as a body that brings together the three provincial Nursing colleges of Valencia, Alicante, Castellón, to the project "Assessment of Knowledge About the Sleep of the Hospitalized Child in the Nursing Staff of a Pediatric Hospitalization Unit" of the team formed by Laura Ruiz Azcona, Silvia Calvo Díez and Verónica Cosío Díaz.

In the III National Congress of Pediatric Nursing Associations, more than 300 pediatric nurses have achieved with communications, presentations and posters. Many of them, moreover, with direct involvement in the Organizing and Scientific Committee have shown that in the Valencian Community there is a large volume of professionals trained to fight for the development of the specialty of Pediatric Nursing.

It is important to note that during all the sessions the clamor of the group for the implementation of a specific exchange, created in 2017 and in which since 2018 there are pediatric nurses in all health departments of the Valencian Community, has been heard. A handicap because, despite the claims, the pool continues to be unusable by the Department of Health, despite having activated specific pools for other Nursing categories created at the same time as Paediatrics.

From the Valencian Association of Pediatric Nursing it is recalled that the pediatric nurses of the Valencian Community are tired “of being dismissed with baseless excuses. Nursing specialties must be developed in unison and we do not accept giving priority to one or the other. We are all equally important and we have the capabilities to cover all the areas that our training program establishes for us. In addition, the pediatric nurse must be the leader who directs the actions and health objects that must be achieved in the pediatric age, throughout the community and in specialized care.

In the closing act of the III CNADEP, Aida Junquera, president of the Spanish Federation of Pediatric Nursing Associations, proceeded to read a manifesto in which she demands "compliance with the legal competences, recognized in the BOE document of our specialty , in favor of the rights of the child and his/her family. For this, it is necessary to integrate pediatric nurses in the different areas of pediatric care into the organic workforce, and for this we have signed this document that we will present both to the Ministry of Health, the General Nursing Council, and to all the Ministries of the different Spanish Autonomies and all professional Nursing Colleges”.

Aveped also insists that the 1st Promotion of EIR of Pediatric Nursing graduated after a week and both are planted in other communities in the community and that everyone sees better conditions and a full release of their abilities. The Nursing Exchanges of the Valencian Community are empty of professionals to meet the high demand that this pandemic has generated for us, and the response of this Ministry is to let trained and specialized professionals escape because it is not capable of taking the step to a reconversion Of jobs.
