Scholarships for private centers from 0 to 3 years and Baccalaureate are brought forward to April in Madrid

The scholarships for private centers in the first cycle of early childhood education and in the Baccalaureate are going to be brought forward this year, so that when the course begins all the families know if they have been awarded or not. In total, it is estimated that there will be 50.000 beneficiaries of this aid, which will be convened in April.

The Governing Council approves this advance of dates this Wednesday. It will correspond to scholarships for infant education between 0 and 3 years old, and those for Baccalaureate. The usual thing until now was that these grants were convened between June and July, and their resolution was known once the course had started. Now, with the established change, before the 23/24 academic year begins, it will already be known who the beneficiaries are.

The calls will be published in the Official Gazette of the Community, and the scholarships may be requested through the institution's web portal.

Those of the first cycle of Infant in private centers will have a budget of 50,6 million, and will be able to benefit around 34.000 families. The amount that the beneficiary families will receive will range between 1.463 and 2.343 euros per year, depending on their income. This initiative will address children who were born, or are scheduled to be born, before January 1, 2024, and are enrolled or have reserved a place in the 2023/24 academic year at an authorized private center.

In the scale, cases of parents who both work full-time will obtain 7 points, when there is only one parent in the same circumstances or if one of them or the guardians is full-time and the other has an impediment to care for the minor. The same previous situations will be valued with 5 points if it is part-time. They will also take into account large families and parents or children with disabilities.

In this case, 43,5 million euros will be allocated to the aid for Baccalaureate and will reach 15.000 students. The amount will be 3.750 euros for per capita income of up to 10.000 euros, and 2.000 for those with between 10.000 and 35.913 euros. The beneficiaries may not have repeated the course for which the scholarship is requested.

Likewise, the Community of Madrid will try to reduce the level of English to 300.000 students in 6th grade of Primary and 4th of ESO. The Governing Council will approve today the awarding of these tests for the 2022/23 to 2025/26 courses. The service represents 33,4 million euros, and will be in more than 800 public centers and concerts. With this they tried to avoid the problems of last year, when a dispute slowed down the contest and the centers had to take charge of the tests.
