Almost 2.000 Madrid children from 0 to 3 years old will have in schools for the first time

The little ones in the house, from when they are months old to 3 years old, will be able to go to school from this September in primary schools in the Community of Madrid. The regional government has enabled nearly 2.000 places in 46 public schools for this purpose, within its Strategy for the Protection of Maternity and Paternity and the Promotion of Fertility and Conciliation 2022-26.

The Minister of Education and Universities, Enrique Ossorio, today visited the Martínez Montañés infant and primary education center in Moratalaz, one of the ones that are going to open new classrooms for babies this year. Some classrooms that have been conditioned to adapt them to the needs of this stage. The investment in it has exceeded 16 million euros.

These little students will have the opportunity to enter the school without knowing how to walk, and leave there after studying the entire Infant and Primary stage. Washbasins and toilets of the appropriate size for their users, as well as changing tables, have been installed in the classrooms. The courtyard spaces have also been reorganized, and both accessibility and evacuation and air conditioning have been improved.

In this case you will discover what is necessary for this educational cycle: from the teaching material, to what they need in terms of kitchenware, textiles and furniture. The maximum proportion will be eight places per class in the case of babies, fourteen for children from 1 to 2 years old, and 20 for those from 2 to 3 years old.

The public schools where this measure will be applied from September are both in the capital and in other municipalities in the region: areas with high population growth have been chosen and where the demand for school places in the infant stage is high.

They are located in the municipalities of Alcalá de Henares, Alcobendas, Alcorcón, Aranjuez, Brunete, Collado Villalba, Coslada, Fuenlabrada, Getafe, Humanes de Madrid, Leganés, Majadahonda, Móstoles, Parla, San Fernando de Henares, San Martín de la Vega, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Las Rozas de Madrid, Torrejón de Ardoz, Tres Cantos, Valdemoro and Villaviciosa de Odón.
