The Supreme Court judges this Tuesday and tomorrow Wednesday the deputy of the Parliament of Catalonia and spokesperson for the CUP Eulalia Reguant for a crime of serious disobedience to the authority that she would have committed during the 'trial' trial when she refused to respond as witness to the questions of Vox, popular accusation in the case. The Prosecutor's Office requested four months in prison and disqualification for the right to passive suffrage.

The Chamber dictated the date for the opening of the oral trial after the Madrid court raised its statement to the High Court, considering it competent to judge the performance of Reguant, qualified in her capacity as a deputy of the Parliament. By virtue of the Statute of Catalonia, outside that territory the criminal responsibility of a regional parliamentarian rests with the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court.

The events for which Reguant will be tried took place in Madrid in February 2019, during the trial of the leaders of the 'procés'. Reguant, then a CUP councilor, denied answering the questions of the popular accusation of Vox, something that witnesses must comply with. Last October, when it became known that a Madrid court had sent the case to the Supreme Court, the deputy reaffirmed on her Twitter account her decision "not to answer the extreme right" in the 'procés' trial and defended " the right to defy the law to the established authorities” when considering that “fascism cannot have a place in a society that pretends to be fair”.
