This Saturday's conference was directed by Santiago Sardinero, professor of Environmental Sciences at UCLM and member of the Delegation for the Care of Creation, with a brief introduction about the natural vegetation of the Crystalline Plateau of Toledo, followed by the planting of various native species: holm oaks, junipers, terebinths, almond trees, ephedra, blackthorn, jasmine, coluteas, broom, esparto grass, cradles, lavender, thyme, reeds, tapsia and rock sorrel. With this type of action, and taking into account the exposition of current scientists, the ecological vision of the Catholic theological tradition, and the call to action of Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato Si', the Archdiocese of Toledo wishes to contribute to the “ caring for our common home” through the development of programs for the promotion of biodiversity, restoration of habitats, functioning of ecosystems, fight against desertification, mitigation of climate change and environmental education.
