López Obrador charges against Spain again "The invasions have cost us blood, martyrdom and territory"

The celebration of Mexico's independence on September 16 began the day before with the Estela de Luz -a commemorative monument to the Bicentennial of Mexican Independence and the Centennial of the Revolution- with two demonstrators from the collective 'Until you find yourself', made up of relatives of people disappeared in the state of Guanajuato, perched 106 meters where they put up a poster of the same length with their slogans: "When will our independence from the Army?", "No to the military coup" and "16 years of impunity" while Haban insisted on the discomfort due to the militarization of Mexico that Congress has just approved thanks to the vote of 335 deputies that grants the Armed Forces Public Security until 2028.

At night, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) led the 212th anniversary of Independence from the National Palace before more than one hundred thousand attendees in the Zócalo Square, after two years of absence due to Covid-19, where he proclaimed a Twenty harangues highlighted by the Mexican press: "Death to classism, racism and corruption", while the public expressed its support.

On Friday at noon, the Tabasco president took the opportunity to make it clear in his official speech that "Mexicans do not accept any foreign intervention because we have been victims of these great calamities."

And, he returned to the charge against the conquests, naming our country first: “These invasions have cost us blood, martyrdom and territory,” he comments, including France and the United States. Thus, the uncertainty before a possible incursion in the demarcation of him, a (powerful) and non-existent enemy, arises again in the harangue of the president, of Cantabrian origin, despite more than 200 years of independence.

AMLO prompted the public to ask: “How was the invasion of Mesoamerican soil? » which, in his opinion, «have aggravated the conflict». For this reason, perhaps a committee for dialogue and peace in which he would integrate the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and Pope Francis together with Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations.

He went to the attendees who were invited as guests of honor: the brother and father of Julian Assange, whom he declared as "the Quixote of our time of freedom of expression." To Pepe Mújica – former guerrilla and former president of Uruguay – whom he called wise and Evo Morales – former president of Bolivia – "honest and brave social fighter", whom the National Action Party (PAN), the first opposition party, assured « that no one was welcome to be an anti-democratic character who sought to perpetuate himself in power by violating the laws of his country.

“The UN must be reformulated as ineffective”

López Obrador (alias AMLO) criticized the UN because, in his opinion, "it remains inactive, prey to formalism and political inefficiency that leaves it in a merely ornamental role."

He also rejected the behavior of the great powers that, according to his speech, position themselves only to benefit their hegemonic interests in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Thus, it should be remembered that NATO has supported a Ukraine with a great economic recession and the restrictions in the Russian energy sector have increased the price of gas and oil, overshadowing a long-awaited recovery with the greatest disappearance of inflation in decades in Europe.

Mexico will not sanction Russia for having voted against the Ukrainian invasion so as not to confront a United States on which it is so highly dependent. López Obrador's tactic happens because "he does not want to get involved with a country like Ukraine, to which Mexican public opinion does not care," Professor Guillermo Valdés, former director of the Spanish Center for Research and National Security, told ABC.

In Mexico, nobody agrees that its oil depends on the decisions of the Biden administration, if no traditional cartel dominated by OPEC is that its interests are with the producers, not with the consumers.
