Life expectancy in Spain will exceed 86 years for men and 90 for women in the year 2071. This Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In addition, it is estimated that men who will be 2071 years old in 65 will have a life expectancy of 22.7 years (3.7 more than today) and 26.3 for women (3.2 years more).
According to INE data, the gender gap is going to widen. Although in 2022 the difference is 5,44 years between men and women, in 2071 it will be 4,02 years.
Life expectancy fell in 2020 as a result of the pandemic, a more pronounced decrease in the case of men. In 2021 it will recover and follow the curve upwards, pending the INE forecast published this Thursday.

However, the number of deaths would continue to grow until reaching a maximum in 2064. For the year 2022, the projection estimated a total of 455.704 deaths, compared to 449.270 in 2021, according to provisional results, they indicate in a press release. For its part, in 2036 there would be 494.371 deaths among residents in Spain. And in 2071 they would reach 652.920 deaths.
Given the decline in the birth rate and the increase in deaths, in Spain there will always be more deaths than births (growth or negative natural balance) over the next 15 years. This vegetative balance would reach its lowest value around 2061, and would recover slightly from then on.
