A Galician mayor offers himself to Ukraine "to present himself to fight against the oppressive Russian forces"

The first lines of the letter point to what has already been shown by other state, regional or municipal institutions. In short, the "absolute rejection" of the Russian army's invasion of Ukraine and the offer to take in refugees and "all the humanitarian aid they need." But in the letter sent to the Russian ambassador in Spain, Serhiy Pohorelzew, the mayor of the small Pontevedra municipality of Agolada, Luis Calvo Miguélez, has gone much further: he offers to fight himself against the Russian army.

"Both myself and the deputy mayor, Óscar Val García, are at your entire disposal to go fight against the oppressive Russian forces as soon as you consider it appropriate", literally receives the card sent to the Ukrainian ambassador and that the Mayor of Pontevedra himself has posted on his Facebook page.

“Every sovereign nation must enjoy freedom. I want to express our absolute dismay at this attack on Ukraine,” the councilor, from the independent Anti-Corruption and Justice party, wrote in the publication that accompanies the map.

In the letter, the mayor shows "the most absolute rejection" of "the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory", arranging for the City Council "to welcome his compatriots and all the humanitarian aid he needs" and that may be in those of the municipal government. "We want to express our most sincere support and collaboration from this City Council," repeated the card sent to the Ukrainian representative.
