The judge charges the engineer of the Cullera City Council for the fatal accident of the Medusa Festival

The judge has summoned the technical engineer of the Cullera City Council (Valencia) to testify as the accused in the case of the fatal accident that occurred in August 2022 at the Medusa Festival, in which a 22-year-old boy died and 40 other people had to will be expected.

The citation as investigated of the engineer has been set for February 13. This is the person in charge of supervising the premises and determining that it met the established requirements, as decided by the head of the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 4 of Sueca.

Sources from the Cullera City Council have indicated that it was a procedure that was expected but they have stressed that the worker is not charged with any crime, for which reason they maintain that one of the companies will have requested their statement.

In all cases, they have been "convinced" that the municipal process is "impeccable" and have commented on their "full confidence" in the work of the technicians. The consistory has stressed that it will collaborate with the Justice and with the investigation of what happened and will hope that it will finally clarify what happened.

Faults in the stage structure

According to the technical report on the Medusa enclosure, according to published information, there were assembly failures in the anchoring of certain auxiliary structures; the activity project documentation was insufficient is that it did not include all those structures considered auxiliary and hence they were installed without the supervision of the responsible technicians and there were facilities that were not in the initial project.
