There have been two operations of the Civil Guard of Tarragona that have ruined the logistics to introduce hashish through the Costa Dorada to later sell it in Europe. The summer of 2021 was suspended when the Armed Institute detected the displacement of this activity from Andalusia to the Catalan coast, and now it has sent investigations that culminated in the seizure of 10 tons of drugs, 10 drug traffickers and 51 detainees.

Of the two dismantled organizations, the first was based in the Ebro Delta, and facilitated the launching of vessels for the transport of cannabis derivatives, originating in Morocco, for narcotics. Their services were required by traffickers settled throughout Spain: from Galicia to Extremadura, as well as Andalusia and Catalonia.

They not only provided the boats but also all the logistics: from fuel to food. They dumped them at the mouth of the Ebro and even proposed security services to circumvent police surveillance during the landing of the caches.

For this operation, baptized as 'Maius', the agents have arrested 19 people in Algeciras and Tarragona, where those responsible for the network were found. With the second attrition -operation 'Drift'-, the Civil Guard has arrested the largest hashish trafficker in Catalonia during the last year. It is, as ABC has learned, a man of Albanian origin, based in the Barcelona town of Viladecans.

He was in charge not only of introducing the hashish in Spain, but also of its subsequent shipment to other European countries, where it would triple its value on the black market. In this case, he finds the boats in Galicia and Portugal. After transporting them to Catalonia, they prepared them in a workshop, located in Cambrils, where they had a nautical mechanic, who was in charge of preparing the narco-boats to reach North Africa to pick up the drug.

During the investigation, he has to stop four landings of hashish, back in Tarragona, one in Alicante and another in Ibiza. The 'Deriva' operation, which concluded this past Tuesday, was saved with 30 detainees in Alicante, Tarragona, Barcelona, Murcia and the Balearic Islands, as well as the intervention of 5 drug boats and more than 5.700 kg of hashish.
