The supermarkets of Castilla y León assure that "there are no supply problems"

The Association of Supermarket Entrepreneurs of Castilla y León (Asucyl) called for calm this Thursday because, today, "there are no supply problems". A situation that will continue "as long as transport works and consumers do not get carried away by fear and panic", hoarding products "indiscriminately".

For this reason, the general secretary of Asucyl, Isabel del Amo, insisted on her call for calm, in statements to Ical, and has asked the population to be "calm" because the supermarkets of the Community are going to have "product in the stores” because the food supply chain “works perfectly.”

"At the moment, there are no supply problems, except for very specific issues, and it is functioning and working very well because the agri-food chain in Spain is very efficient and there is no need to store the product," Del Amo estimated, noting that this "It is distributed from the industry to our logistics platforms and from there to the stores in a short time."

However, the general secretary of Asucyl recognized that for this to be maintained, "safe transport is essential", for which she has asked the Government to act "more forcefully" to end this strike situation, given that although From the supermarket management it is understood and even shared by some of the users of the convening carrier platform, "this is not the time to paralyze a country".

“We have to appeal to everyone's responsibility”, he pointed out, Ical picks up. In this sense, he has requested, on the one hand, that the convening platform put an end to "violent acts" because "it is not acceptable that they are using force to try to prevent other colleagues from doing their job." On the other hand, he called on the Government, in addition to "forcefulness" to guarantee that, within the right to strike, the action of the pickets "is limited to informing", that they "sit down and talk" with the callers of the strike.

In this sense, Del Amo considered necessary "a special aid plan to try to mitigate, as far as possible, the effects of the increase in costs in an inflationary scenario", which affects not only transportation and which must include, According to Asucyl, measures such as those developed in other surrounding countries, such as France or Italy, mainly aimed at lowering the tax on fuels.

In addition, and in relation to the consequences that the conflict that is developing in Ukraine after the invasion by the Russian Federation may have in the short, medium and long term for the supply of supermarkets in the Community, Isabel del Amo has also outlined that «Spain is a country that produces food of great quality and quantity, because the food industry is guaranteed».
