Can I deduct the mortgage in model 130?

Irs Publication 515

The amount you can deduct in a given year for any expense depends on whether it is considered a current year expense or a capital expense. For more information, go to Current or Capital Expenses and Capital Expenditure Allowance (CCA) Basics.

You cannot claim expenses you incur to purchase capital goods. However, as a general rule, you can deduct any reasonable out-of-pocket expenses you incur to earn income. Deductible expenses include any GST/HST you incur on these expenses less the amount of any input tax credit claimed.

When you claim the GST/HST you paid or owe for your business expenses as an input tax credit, reduce the business expense amounts by the amount of the input tax credit. Do so when the GST/HST for which you claim the input tax credit has been paid or is due, whichever is earlier.

Similarly, subtract any other rebates, subsidies or aid from the expense to which it applies. Enter the net figure on the appropriate line of your form. Any such aid you claim for the purchase of depreciable assets used in your business will affect your claim for capital cost relief.

Resident aliens are typically taxed on their worldwide income, just like US citizens. Nonresident aliens are only taxed on their income from sources located in the United States and on certain income related to conducting a trade or business in the United States.
